Colon Hydrotherapy

At InternaPure, we offer an array of services to help you feel your best. Whether you need to recover from a debilitating illness or want to lessen the effects of chronic pain, our services, including colonic irrigation, will make you feel your best.

What is colonic irrigation?

Colonic irrigation, using the gravitational method, is an internal bath that helps cleanse the colon of poisons, gas, and accumulated fecal matter. Unlike an enema, it does not involve the retention of water. There is usually no discomfort, very little internal pressure, just a steady, gentle flow in and out of the colon. At the same time, an abdominal massage is given to stimulate the colon to recover its natural shape, tone, and peristaltic action.

How is a colonic administered?

A person receiving colon hydrotherapy lies on a special colema board which is about 32 inches below the controlled water flow. A sterilized nozzle is gently inserted into the rectum (self-administered). Water flow, which is under the control of the person receiving the colonic, flows into the colon via the nozzle, then out and around the nozzle carrying with it impacted feces and mucus. As the water flows out of the colon, you gently massage your abdomen to help the colon release its contents.

You will perform the colon irrigation by yourself in the privacy of your own therapy room. The colonic process usually takes 45 to 60 minutes.

Are there side effects?

There are no side effects. It is not uncommon, however, for some people to start to feel like they have a cold or a headache after a colon hydrotherapy session. Toxins which have been lying dormant in the colon are now being flushed out, and a small amount may be re-absorbed into the body's system. This healing crisis passes quickly, and the person will realize a feeling of well-being with further treatments.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

You should plan to be in the clinic for at least 90 minutes during your first colon hydrotherapy session (the actual "table time" will only last about 45 to 60 minutes). You will come in and fill out some paperwork (unless you bring the attached packet in with you), then you will have a short consultation before your session.

During the consultation, we will go over any health contra-indications or concerns and answer any questions that you may have regarding colon hydrotherapy. We will also go over what you can expect to experience during your session.

We will then educate you on how the colon hydrotherapy device works and instruct you on how to insert your nozzle and start your session. Only after you have had all of your questions answered and feel comfortable to begin your procedure will your therapist leave your room to allow you time to undress from the waist down, get up on the colon hydrotherapy table, insert your nozzle and turn your water on. Your therapist will be available to you during the entire session to answer any questions and to instruct you in the abdominal massage and other techniques that will make the cleanse as productive as possible.
